Autumnal Wedding at Cowdray House - West Sussex

Embrace the Warmth: A Guide to Planning Your Autumnal Wedding

As the leaves turn vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold, and a crispness fills the air, autumn sets a picturesque scene for weddings. The season embodies warmth, romance, and a sense of coziness, making it a perfect time to celebrate love. If you're considering an autumnal wedding, you're in for a treat. Let's delve into the charm and beauty of autumn weddings and explore some tips for planning the perfect one. It is after all my favourite time of year to get married.

Capturing the Essence of Autumn: Autumn is a season of rich colours, textures, and flavours, and incorporating these elements into your wedding will create a magical atmosphere. Opt for a colour palette inspired by nature, such as deep burgundy, mustard yellow, burnt orange, honey hues and earthy greens. Always consider using seasonal flowers. We have focused on autumnal foliages and heaps of texture.

Venue Selection: When choosing a venue for your autumnal wedding, look for spaces that embrace the natural beauty of the season. Historic estates, such as Cowdray House are the perfect backdrop for an autumnal wedding. It's full of intimate spaces, but then there is the grand hall! This was the perfect space for the tall table centres. Our bride wanted to florals to look like autumn, which was music to my ears.

Décor and Details: Incorporate autumn-inspired décor elements to infuse your wedding with seasonal charm. Adorn your venue with candles, and lanterns to create a warm and inviting ambiance as the evening draws in.We have decorated the long tables with rows of tall dinner candles from Ester and Eric in golden candle holders as well as heaps of tea light to give the perfect glow.

We have used gold up-risers with large dramatic floral arrangements full of seasonal foliage, dahlias, roses and berries. Wild and abundant with enough grandeur to fill the large space.

Attire: For the bride and groom, autumnal weddings offer a chance to embrace rich textures and warm tones in their attire. Consider dresses in luxe fabrics like satin, velvet, or lace, adorned with intricate detailing or embellishments. Encourage your bridal party to coordinate their attire with the season, choosing dresses or suits in complementary colours and fabrics. This is what our bride and groom chose and the results were stunning. Black tie for men and the ladies were in velvet or satin in deep jewel like tones. The deep green bridesmaids dresses were a stunning addition to the whole set up. Everyone looked so chic!

Conclusion: An autumnal wedding is a celebration of love, warmth, and the beauty of nature's transition. By embracing the rich colours, textures, and flavours of the season, you can create a magical and memorable experience for you and your guests. From selecting the perfect venue to infusing your décor, attire, and menu with autumnal charm, every detail contributes to the overall ambiance of your special day. So, embrace the warmth of autumn and let its beauty inspire your wedding celebration. We are always so excited to work on an autumnal wedding! Please get in touch if you are planning a wedding.
